yesterday, today, tomorrow
Yesterday, I’m pretty sure the universe was out of alignment. Aliens, (at least to me) were everywhere and they were pretty ugly.
Today, I am remembering an “a-ha” moment in my life. A friend of mine casually commented to me during a liesurely lunch that “the nice thing about being an adult is that you can chose who to play with”.
Tomorrow, I’m cleaning and purging my address book.
And in the wise words of the fictional Forest Gump, that’s all I have to say about that.
Now for something nice- I want to mention a few of my very favorite things to be found in my studio:
My paints (and I have LOTS of them)- my favorite being my Mom’s oil paints, most still good after more than 40 years. They brought her joy and they bring me joy too. I smell them and I remember walking into the house to the smell of turpentine, knowing my Mom would be humming and painting.
My brushes-I have my Dad’s lettering brushes, still layed out in the pan with a bit of motor oil added to keep them in shape and from drying out. I don’t use these, I just look at them and remember my Dad’s kindness to everyone he met.
My Aeron chair,
fully adjustable and a necessity for anyone who sits at the computer as much as I do. Sometimes, (like today) I pull the arms in so I feel like I’m being hugged.
My color chips-
viewing colors is therapy, you know.
My mirror, so that I can look myself in the eye each day and know that I’ve done my work well, treated people right, fulfilled my obligations, spoke highly of those who work hard for the greater good of all… and to check to make sure I’m holding my head high.
I think more people need mirrors in their work space.
Thought for the day- “no good deed goes unpunished, especially when it’s volunteered.”
